Thomas, Pulliam lead Green Wave past Provine 36-14 in Friday night’s first round playoff game

Darius Ellis broke free for a long touchdown run for the Jackson Provine Rams on his team’s first drive in Friday night’s first round playoff game against the West Point Green Wave. The Rams would not score again until their final drive of the game, and between those two high points, the Green Wave put together a solid offensive effort, led by LaKenderic Thomas and Tez Pulliam.
West Point’s 36-14 victory over the Rams sends them to round two, at Oxford. on Friday night.

Oxford up next for Wave

Can the West Point Green Wave make it 4-for-4?
Three times in the past 10 years, West Point has clashed with the Oxford Chargers in the postseason, and all three times West Point has advanced while Oxford moved on to basketball season.
Friday night, the Chargers will get their latest shot at eliminating the defending state champs.

Hebron girls finish off Carroll in Thursday 54-31 victory

The Hebron Christian Lady Eagles (6-0) are off to a great start in the 2010-2011 season. On Tuesday night, Cathryn Moore helped lead the way to a home opener victory over Starkville Academy.
On Thursday, the Lady Eagles were back home to face Carroll.
This time it was Tori Nichols, the tall junior, who scored 24 points on the Lady Rebels, leading to a 54-31 Hehron victory.
By then end of the first quarter, the Lady Eagles had already put up almost as many points as Carroll would score all night. It was 22-6 Hebron at the end of the opening period.

West Point gives up 90 points to Tupelo in road loss Thursday

Thursday night was West Point’s toughest battle to date. The Green Wave hoops team came in, riding high, after last Tuesday’s win over Houston.
Tupelo, however, had other plans for the Green Wave, as they pummeled them 90-57.
Deontaye Ewing, Tupelo’s top scorer, put up 26 points in the game to pace his team’s win.
The game was tight in the first quarter, with West Point keeping it to a four-point deficit in the first eight minutes. Tupelo led 19-15 after the first.

Lady Raiders let first quarter lead slip away in loss to Kirk

For the Oak Hill Academy Lady Raiders, Thursday night looked like it was going to be a sure win over Kirk Academy for the first eight minutes of the game.
After that, the Lady Raiders let an 11-3 lead slip away into an eventual 38-32 loss.
In the first quarter, Oak Hill’s Tori Ellis was leading the offense in a surge right out of the gates. After falling behind 2-0 to Kirk, Oak Hill answered by out scoring their opponents 11-1 over the next seven minutes.

Red Bulls Win League Championship

The Red Bulls won this year’s U10 Park and Rec League Championship with a record of 7-0-1. Pictured are Coach Thomas Easterling, J.B. Harrell, Grayson Easterling, Lang Darby, Xavier Moody, Lilli Baird, Chelsea Smith, JaQuan Collins, Schyler White, and Malaysia Moody.
