At this moment, the Oak Hill Academy Lady Raiders basketball season is already underway. The start of what should be an exciting season got started on Monday afternoon, as the girls traveled to Indianola Academy for a pre-season tournament.
Today, the Lady Raiders will take on Strider Academy, and they will finish up the tourney on Saturday, against North Delta.
This week’s action is the prelude to what should be an exciting season for the Lady Raiders, who will be traveling to Lamar next Tuesday.

Oak Hill boys basketball coach Brian Middleton said on Monday that he has been practicing with four of the 10 players that are on his 2010-2011 roster. When the football season officially ended last Friday night, the other six that will play for him this season wasted no time in getting to the hardwood.
The Raiders were shooting in the gym on Sunday, preparing themselves for their November 9 match at Lamar.
“They are excited,” Middleton said. “We’re going to have 10 good players. It’s going to be fun.”
On Thursday, the West Point youth soccer league continued its fall season, getting started under cool, clear skies after dark at the West Point Sportsplex. Players look to enjoy a great second half, as the season will continue deep into November.
Sims graduates
Courtney Sims of Tupelo recently graduated from Northeast Community College earning her AS in Art. Sims made the Dean's List and had several pieces of her work shown in the school art exhibit. She received Best of Show her freshman year and 2nd place in painting her sophomore year including some honorable mentions both years. Sims placed 2nd in the state art competition. Sims is now a junior at MSU where she is working on advanced degrees in art.
