Beware, Class 5A contenders.....The defending champs just might have their swagger back.
On the heels of two straight last-second wins over Oxford and Lake Cormorant, the West Point Green Wave looked like a team hungry to return to championship form Friday night, completely dominating Division 1-5A foe Saltillo in a convincing 49-0 rout – and it wasn’t even that close.

Friday night’s Hebron Christian Eagles (2-7; 0-2) and Calhoun Academy Cougars 1-9; 0-2) game was a wild one. It was an offensive shootout that finally ended with a 38-30 homecoming win for the Eagles.
For the first time in 2010, the Eagles dropped down to eight-man football, taking on a Cougar team that has played with those numbers all year.
“It was a typical eight-man game, where it’s stop me, and I’ll try to stop you,” said Hebron head coach Greg Watkins. “That’s the kind of a game it was.”

The Oak Hill Academy Raider (3-7; 1-1) played their final home game of the 2010 regular season on Friday night. Playing a very competitive Marshall Academy team (7-2), the Raiders were unable to overcome an early deficit, falling 35-7 to the Patriots.
The good news for the Raiders is that this game was not a district match. That will come in the final game of the season which will be next week.
