New York's iconic Statue of Liberty and Liberty Island are being evacuated after reports of a suspicious package inside a locker, according to a senior law enforcement official and the National Park Service.
By day, 63-year-old Charles Gladden works in the U.S. Capitol cafeteria. By night, he sleeps on a sidewalk. "They scramble around for issues to talk about," he said, motioning to the Senate chamber behind him. "All they have to do is stop and ask the common person on the street."
